Lilly Pulitzer Greek Gifts!

Okay so I got am email from Lifeguard Press Thursday for pre-ordeing Lilly Pulitzer Greek Gifts. You can only imagine what happened next… To put it as calmly and rationally as possible, I was the most excited person on the planet at that moment. (Honestly, I am still shaking with excitement as I write this).

Okay so I will give you a little preview of what you will find when you go to pre-order your greek gear. Since I am an Alpha Phi- you may find that print featured slightly more than the other sorority prints…

The sororities that you can pre-order all of these items for are:

Alpha Phi (I know you’re shocked), Alpha Delta Pi,  Alpha Omicron Phi,  Alpha Xi Delta,  Chi Omega,  Delta Delta Delta,  Delta Gamma,  Delta Zeta,  Kappa Alpha Theta,  Kappa Delta,  Kappa Kappa  Gamma,  Phi Mu,  Pi Beta Phi and  Sigma Kappa.

Ah, that was a mouth full!

So the three gifts that you can pre-order right now are tumblers, dry erase boards, and cell phone (iPhone 4) covers in all the prints!

Here are a few of the items so you can start making your wish list and pre-ordering ASAP!

Alpha Phi Tumbler

Okay this is my favorite of the three items and it is totally on my list!

Alpha Phi Cell Phone Case

Kappa Kappa Gamma Dry Erase Board

Delta Gamma Tumbler

If I didn’t feature your sorority print head over to Lifeguard Press to check it out (I would have featured them all but I feared you ladies might stop reading after you saw the 6th tumbler…)

Overnight Trip: Packing

I feel as though all I have done is pack and unpack since last Friday when I came home from Milwaukee. I am always one to overpack, although, what girl doesn’t overpack? Anyways, this time it was for an overnight to go see my brother show (horses show that is). This is what I packed for the trip- I tried to be very good…

I decided not to show the content because that you give away far too much for when I tell you ladies and gents all about this weekend!

I will say what I packed, which, is also what I think is a good formula for packing for an overnight-some may argue that you don’t need everything I packed, they may be right…

In the overnight bag:

1 Dinner outfit (currently wearing it for the trip up as well)

2 Day time outfits (one for good weather, one for less than optimal)

1 Night gown/sleep wear

1 Pair of Sandals (rain boots & socks in the car just in case)

1 Rain Jacket in case the weather report was wrong (hoping its sunny though!)

Cosmetic bag filled with the everyday necessities (including bobby pins and band aids!)

1 Hair Straightener and brush

3 sets of “unmentionables” (was I not supposed to mention these…?)

In the tote for day time:

Wallet, coin purse, agenda, pens, chapstick/lipgloss, nail file, camera and everything else I need in my daily life!

The large pink, navy and straw thing sticking out is an oversized Lilly Pulitzer clutch to use at dinner.

Okay so maybe I don’t need two outfits for the day time, but other than that I think I was very good and did not over pack!

What do you pack for your overnights?

Boating Outfits

For mother’s day we went over to Nantucket. I was so excited because it was the first time I had been on a boat this year! Sadly, last year I did not make it out once because I work so much in the summer!

There are two distinct outfit combos that come to mind when I think of going for a boat ride. The first is for when you’re heading to the beach and will be sure to take a dip! The second is more of an outfit for a boat ride, but there’s no chance that you’re going to be testing the waters that day! However, today I am going to focus on the days where you dive in!

For the times you might swim, try these:

Lilly Pulitzer Boardwalk Bikini

This adorable Lilly bikini comes in 5 of their fabulous prints. I prefer a bikini with straps for when I am on the boat because there is always a chance that wake boarding, water skiing or tubing might be involved!

For a cover up that can go from the beach to shopping try Gretchen Scott Design’s Cotton Eyelet Ruffle Neck Dress

I love this cover up because you can feel confident wandering over to some shops without feeling totally out of place. Also, I am loving the sun hat she’s holding!

Be sure to lather on the sun screen!

How Ladies Can Wear a Gentlemen’s Belt

So some of you may remember from my Derby Up post how much I loved the men’s Vineyard Vines Derby Silks Canvas Club Belt. So I went into Vineyard Vines a few days ago and saw it in person and could not resist! I was a bit nervous because I had no idea what size in a men’s belt I would be. I basically grabbed the smallest size they had and it worked. I would have preferred a size 32 but ended up getting a 30 (it was all they had left in the belt after calling about 4 other locations…) I would say try on the belt before you purchase just to be sure but it is totally doable!

I really like the look of men’s belts because they often are mounted on leather. I think they look great with shorts and a polo for a casual look during the summer. I picked out 5 of my favorite men’s belts that I think could be worn by ladies and look fabulous! Obviously, there are lots more (different colors and patterns) so be sure to check out the sites and find your favorites.

Vineyard Vines Horsebits Canvas Club Belt

Kiel James Patrick Guilford’s Obedagget Docks

Southern Tide Needlepoint Belt

Smathers & Branson Starfish Needlepoint Belt

Knot Leatherbacked Tabbed Four Majors

Like I said, be sure to try the belt on. Also, if you every find one you love and need a different size always ask or call other stores, they just might have it!

J. Crew Chinos 3 Ways

So J. Crew Chinos are some of the best shorts out there. They always have a plethora of colors and they never go out of style! I personally prefer the 3″ chino shorts but they do come in longer lengths (4, 5, 7 and 9 inch). They are a very versatile short and can be worn so many ways. Here are three different ways I like to wear mine!

Beach Look:

Hat | Bikini

Town Look:

Sweater | Necklace | Jack Rogers

Night Out Look:

Top | Shoes

Last, the Shorts.

Don’t forget to always make the outfit your own. Mix up the colors and maybe add in some prints, fun bracelets and a great bag!

Which look is your favorite?

Wedding Season: What To Wear- Men

As promised, I am writing about what men can wear to weddings, both day time and night time. As with the post for the ladies, I am partial to beach weddings, being from Cape Cod, thus this post may reflect that…

Here we go!

Day Time:

The first step is to have a good shirt. I am partial to this Brooks Brothers Dress Shirt

From here it is a little more complicated. Some weddings are very casual and a suit may not be necessary. For that go with dress slacks and a tie. Otherwise, I would say a Summer suit such as the John W. Nordstrom Travel Jacket and Pant

Another option could be a seersucker suit.

The tie, or bow tie, is a very personal choice and there are far too many to feature only one on this post. I will leave that up to you all.

Night Time:

Again, a shirt is the first step-the one above would be appropriate still. For a more formal night wedding a more formal suit is necessary. Try a navy, or grey suit.

This John Varvatos Grey Suit would be a good option:

Try to avoid black unless it is a tuxedo appropriate affair, it just seems to rub me the wrong way for a wedding. You are going to a wedding so keep your outfit happy and as bright as you can!

Any good dress shoes will do the trick here. Just be sure they match your belt if you opt to wear one!

p.s. be sure to compliment your lady!

p.s. Ellis G. Designs makes patterned bow ties too!

Wedding Season: What To Wear

Wedding season is about to be in full swing and what to wear to them is always a big question.

The first question is what time of day is the wedding and where will it be held. I will cover the basics: day wedding and night (after 6pm) wedding. I am bias to the location, living on Cape Cod I assume weddings are near the beach, thus it will probably reflect in the post!

The second question, which shoes and accessories- don’t fear, I will put a bit of that in here too!

Also, I will do this post for both ladies and gentlemen, because everyone needs to look fabulous during wedding season! However, the gentlemen’s post will come later in the week!

Day Time:

Star Shell Carolyn Dress from Vineyard Vines

Wynn Piper Dress by Needham Lane

50s Dress by Elizabeth McKay

For day time weddings, I like to pair it with a good pair of espadrilles. I would do a fun pair of earrings and maybe nix the necklace (depending on the cut of your dress).

Night Time:

Amsale One Shoulder Ruffle Silk Chiffon Dress

Donna Morgan Belted Chiffon Dress

For night time go with a high heel sandal (be sure to have a pedicure!). For a more formal look, have your hair up. Match all of the jewelry to keep a good flow. A sparkly clutch would be great to add a little pop of fun!

Hand Care

Since it is finals season (nearly over thank goodness!) I am reminded by my terrible habit- picking at my cuticles due to stress. I always try and keep hand cream with me to prevent me from being able to do this.

I have two favorites when it comes to hand creams- I honestly swear by them. I have yet to find a hand cream team I like better. There are two creams and one scrub that I use in order to keep my hands and cuticles soft as can be!

First up is the Ultimate Strength Hand Slave by Kiehl’s.

I usually keep this one in my purse or school bag. I find that I never have problems with it exploding so it is the best for a bag. It absorbs into your hands fast and keeps them pretty well hydrated. I find it to be less greasy than other hand creams. I keep the smaller, 2.5 oz, with me- it is the perfect size.

Next, Crabtree and Evelyn’s Gardeners Hand Therapy

This is the cream on my bedside table and on my desk. I have it in both the pump and the tube. I find the pump best- the tube always seems to break open if I put it in my bag. Nevertheless, the cream itself is a savior. I first discovered it while in England last April. My hands were in desperate need one day while in the city of Bath and this ended up being the cure. Again, it is not very greasy and I find it holds in the moisture the best.

Last of my hand care remedies is Crabtree and Evelyn’s Hand Recovery.

This is a scrub that you use on dry hands and rinse off with warm water. It seriously works wonders. Anytime I use this my hands feel completely amazing and soft for the next four days (a little secret, I used this everyday while going through recruitment to make sure I had soft hands while meeting girls of the sororities-I think it worked because I am now an Alpha Phi!) Anyways, after each use of the scrub I apply the hand cream above (crabtree and evelyn’s). The duo is positively the best.

I highly recommend these three products to all of you if you are looking for great hand care. Let me know if you invest in them and what you think!

Lilly Pulitzer Agendas from Lifeguard Press!

My friends at Lifeguard Press told me they are currently taking pre-orders for the Lilly Pulitzer agendas! The agendas are seriously some of the cutest! I currently have a Lilly planner and love mine- it always makes me a little happier when I pull it out and see all of the bright colors looking back at me.

Lifeguard Press will be shipping the agendas out the second they come in (first week in July) and they will have some of the fastest shipping because it will go right to you instead of to a store first! Be sure to pre-order ASAP because these cute prints have limited quantity (I know it is a true tragedy-Lilly should make enough for everyone to have one). Lifeguard press told me they sell out of a few prints each year, so don’t let your favorite print sell out before you get it!

Here is a detailed view of what is inside your planner (yes there are stickers included!) I love their little section at the bottom of the page about what you can do when you retire your planner- I am seriously putting those ideas to use for mine!

Here are a few pictures so you can plan which Lilly Print you want

p.s. there is a small and large version- I currently have the small and love it, but I am considering upgrading to the larger one (I write a lot).

This might be my favorite print- but I really can’t decide which one I love best.

Also, don’t forget to complete your agenda with a Lilly Printed Pen!

Which is your favorite print?
